GEMS Dance Company offers the following classes:
Creative Movement:
Age Group: 3 years old by January 1
This class introduces young dancers to ballet foundations through creative movement and musicality. Students will explore basic jazz and modern movement while developing strength and flexibility with simple, acro-inspired exercises in a fun and supportive environment.
Ballet:
Age Group: 4 years old and up (by January 1)
This class builds foundational ballet technique through structured exercises and creative movement. Students focus on posture, balance, coordination, and musicality while learning basic ballet positions and steps.
Tap:
Age Group: 4 years old and up (by January 1)
This class introduces dancers to the fundamentals of tap through fun, rhythmic movement and age-appropriate instruction. Students develop timing, coordination, balance, and musicality while learning basic tap steps, footwork, and rhythmic patterns. Classes build confidence and encourage dancers to express themselves as they explore the exciting world of tap.
Jazz/Modern:
Age Group: 4 years old and up (by January 1)
Students explore jazz and modern dance through creative movement, musicality, and simple combinations. This class focuses on coordination, flexibility, and expressive movements while building confidence and a love of dance.
Hip Hop:
Age Group: 4 years old and up (by January 1)
This class introduces young dancers to hip hop movement and basic acro-inspired skills through fun, age-appropriate music and activities. Students will build coordination, strength, and confidence while learning to move safely and creatively.
Contemporary:
Age Group: Middle School
This class introduces dancers to the fundamentals of contemporary dance by blending expressive movement with foundational technique. Students develop strength, flexibility, balance, coordination, and body awareness while exploring creativity, musicality, and emotional expression through movement. Classes encourage dancers to connect technique with artistry in a supportive and inspiring environment.
Step:
Age Group: Middle School
Step introduces students to the art of creating rhythm through coordinated footwork, clapping, and body percussion. Dancers develop timing, coordination, teamwork, confidence, and musicality while learning foundational step patterns and performance skills. Classes emphasize precision, creativity, and collaboration in a fun and energetic environment.
Volunteers
Volunteers are always welcomed! Background checks are required through Baltimore County Parks & Recreation. We have openings for the following roles:

No refunds will be issued after the first class. Any refund which is issued will be subject to a $25 administrative fee.
