Frequently Asked Questions:
Q: How many evaluation dates do I need to attend?
A: We require that each player attend at least one session. The more you attend the more we are able to evaluate your son’s skill set. Please be sure to contact us if you are unable to make any of the dates but still want the opportunity to be evaluated.
Q: Do I need to come to these evaluations if my son plans on playing Rec in Spring of 2027?
A: No, you should only attend if you are interested in playing on a Club team in the Spring of 2027. Rec team evaluations and team formations will continue to take place in the early March 2027.
Q: If I do NOT make a Club team, can I still play for CMRC Rec in the Spring of 2027?
A: Of course! We will have Rec teams as well next spring, and evaluations will be held in March of 2027. You do not need to attend these evaluations if that is the case.
Q: What is the difference between Rec and Club Teams?
A: It does come down to a difference of skill set as well as the commitment you are looking for. But not all Club teams are the same….even if they play in the same league/division. Like Rec teams, you will find a wide range of skill sets across many teams. Before there were Club Teams…there was an “A Division”. They simply don’t offer that in Rec Travel anymore as it’s been replaced by the GHCLC League ("HoCo League"). The HoCo Club Team League, which is played in Howard County, offers multiple divisions…which creates great parity. The main commitment differences are the additional travel to some degree, as well as the multi-season practice/tournament schedule. Club teams are comparable in cost to the Rec Spring Season play; however, the total cost is more expensive because Club teams play in many tournaments across all seasons.
